Soccer is a team sport, played between two teams pitted against each other. A standard rectangular field is used to play, with two goal posts each, on the center of the two shorter sides. A spherical ball is passed around using the foot or occasionally by the head, and the aim is to hit the ball into the goal post. History of football dates back to England in the middle ages, when different rules were used and the sport was played in an unorganized manner across high schools in the country. In 1848, Cambridge University made its first effort to set up some rules and as such the rules of the game came into existence, popularly called Cambridge rules. The rules set by the Cambridge University were followed by several clubs besides schools and universities of various counties. However, some schools and universities, who initially followed the Cambridge rules, went against the existing rules and decided to come up with their own set of regulations. This led to the formation of the Sheffield United FC, a body formed by former members of the Cambridge University.

These continuous efforts contributed and finally led to the formation of The Football Association (The FA) which held its first meeting on October 26, 1863. This was followed by minor confrontations of the members, on some rules laid out by the FA, which led to mutiny by a few member clubs to form separate associations. But, this didn't affect the FA much, as it successfully organized the FA cup, the oldest football competition in the world, in 1872. The world's first league tournament started in Birmingham with 12 club teams. This league then evolved into the highly prestigious English Premier League.

This year, the Opening Day spectacle is better than ever: Johan Santana and his first win in a Mets uniform, Joe Torre doing the same in Dodger Blue, international play, no Roger Clemens, no guy by the name of Mitchell, no Bryan McNamee.
This day is about hope. This day is about waking up and dreaming, even if you’re a Royals fan. This day is about possibility.
Yet, as great as this Day is, how am I supposed to be engrossed in it, put my all into it, look up how Vladimir Guerrero has historically fared against Pet Neshek, just in case they’d happen to face each other in the bottom of the eighth of the first of 162 games. There are 161 games after this one.
And how am I supposed to transition from the climatic, exciting, dramatic NCAA tournament to a game with Gus “I Need A Sedative Even In a Blowout” Johnson calling a game (”and the slipper stillllllll fitsssss!!!”) to Bert Blyleven, who could feed a Third World country if he was given $1 for every time he said “at the Major League level” or “innings of work.” It just doesn’t compare. And couldn’t they allow some sort of recovery period? I’m just coming off of Davidson-Kansas here.
We like different sports for different reasons. I like college basketball for its excitement and variety. There are enough games where it is possible to recall fantastic finishes, incredible highlights — but adding those to our always-evolving Sports Fan Timeline. When I watch a college basketball game, especially one in March, I won’t be on the couch, I’ll be off it, clapping, cheering, leaping.
Baseball is different. Unless you live in a place like Minnesota before the year 2009, your games are in the outdoors, many after dark. The ballpark is illuminated, that little glowing ball has eyes, and people sit around for two-hours-plus. For fifteen minutes, you might stand, if your team happens to be winning in the top half of the ninth. Baseball is routine, day in, night out for 162 games. There’s some comfort in this.

Its origins can be traced back to more than three thousand years, back to ancient China where personal combat was considered to be a form of science. But it was only during the Han Dynasty that definite records of combat strategies and techniques (whether empty-handed or weapon-oriented) were printed. The earliest records that we have today, of martial arts schools in china date back to the era of the Six Dynasties. The next major contribution in the history of the Chinese martial arts can be traced back to the contributions made by the Ch’an Buddhism, which founded the Shaolin temple and of course Shaolin Kung Fu.

From here on, regular combat skills were elevated to more than just simple fighting techniques. Kung Fu was then considered to be a vehicle for spiritual transformation. Shaolin Kung Fu consists of both internal as well as external methods. As the reputation of Shaolin Kung Fu grew, martial artists from all over would travel great distances to become monks, and each would bring with him his own set of unique combat skills.

In the next 1500 years, the temple was burnt down at least 3 times, but each time it would be rebuilt and the surviving monks would continue to teach Kung Fu to the others. Consequently, the art became very widespread and many of the Kung Fu styles you find today can be traced back to the Shaolin temple.

Here are a few of the more common Kung Fu fighting styles you will find today:
1. Northern Shaolin – With the temple being destroyed, many aspects of Shaolin Kung Fu spread all throughout China, while undergoing many adaptations and revisions. The present system however specializes in long-range fighting. Based entirely on the temple’s boxing heritage, this system still maintains that kicking is more effective than any hand movement since the legs are longer and more powerful than the hands.

2. Dragon – The Chinese culture believed that the dragon was a fabulous creature – benevolent, kindly, and worthy of worship and reverence. The dragon was closely associated with male fertility. The dragon style encompasses a combination of hard as well as soft techniques. Its specialty is the floating and the sinking movements with the shoulders lowers and the elbows being bent. As a result of this, a powerful thrusting power will be released.
3. White Crane – This considered to be the most beautiful of all the Kung Fu fighting styles. The White Crane self defense system contains a deadly beauty, while being especially devastating for the aggressive attacker. The four main principles of the white crane are: To Hurt, To Evade, To Penetrate, and To Intercept.
4. Wing Chun – The essence of this style is that when the opponent attacks, you have to absorb and then neutralize the blow. When the opponent withdraws, you have to pursue him and then counter. Disengage restriction with the arms and then retaliate with a jarring thrust. Wing Chun artists generally use a combination of straight as well as intercepting lines along with deflecting arcs. This is primarily an aggressive close-quarter style of Kung Fu.
5. Hung Gar – This is a sort of adaptation of the Shaolin Tiger style. It stresses more or less on close-quarter fighting methods. Very unlike the far-ranging jumping Kung Fu styles, this system is very effective during combat in confined paths and alleys.
6. The Praying Mantis – This has been adapted from the offensive and defensive movements made by a praying mantis. There are different styles: Tai T’si (Yin-yang symbol), Mei Hua (Plum Blossom), Tsi T’sing (the seven stars), and Kwong P’an (the Bare style).
7. The Monkey Style – This is a comical style but is considered to be one of the deadliest self-defense systems ever. Its unusual squatting and hopping self-defense system makes it a very deadly system.
8. Choy Lee Fut – The power that originates from the waist can be utilized to release strong punches from less than a foot away from the target. It also uses throwing and grappling techniques, low and high kicks, snap kicks, sidekicks, turn kicks, and hook kicks. It also features turns and spins. Jamming and intercepting are favorite strategies that are used against opponents.

These are just a few of the Kung Fu fighting styles that have come down through the ages and still exist today.

You and your kids have all seen the flying kicks, battle cries and mighty chops of their favorite TV characters, as they beat the bad guys to submission – but, you may ask, how on earth can these acts of violence teach my child anything worthwhile?

First, know that what you see on television (save perhaps the Karate Kid) is a far cry from what real martial arts are all about. The fact is, martial arts training is based on non-violence.

Originating in Asia (mainly Japan, China and Korea, although Thailand and Vietnam have their own practices as well), martial arts range from a variety of types and styles, all of which are based on well-rounded, moral teachings. The beauty of learning martial arts is that it encompasses not just the physical aspect of the "sport", but mental and emotional lessons as well.

Comparing that to other kid’s activities and sports, where fierce competitiveness and "winning at all costs" seems to be the order of the day, it’s not surprising that many children grapple with issues of self-esteem and misplaced aggression.

Now imagine your child actually learning valuable life lessons, skills that he will take throughout life, laying the foundation for a happy, well-adjusted and fulfilled adult life. If only karate for kids was popular in the 70’s.

The Advantages

• Karate, and other martial arts for kids, builds confidence and self-esteem as well as self-discipline, respect, concentration and courtesy.

• Many martial arts schools also offer leadership courses for kids, in conjunction with their karate for kids programs, or similar lessons.

• Martial Arts is ideal for children who do not do well in team sports, giving them the ability to flourish this activity, while combining physical and mental practices.

• Many do not realize this, but it is a fact that martial arts training are safer than most school sports.

• Children with special needs, such as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), learning difficulties and hyperactivity are often recommended to participate in martial arts for kids because of the clear benefits in its structured training techniques.

Kickboxing is a sporting martial art very similar to boxing, except for the fact that it uses both arms and legs for striking. It can be practiced either as a full-contact combat sport or for general fitness. While the term refers to various forms of combat sports, it is generally associated with Japanese and American kickboxing. The term was introduced by Osamu Noguchi, a Japanese boxing promoter.
Kickboxing is a derivative of karate, boxing, taekwondo and other combat styles and it was created to compete against them. All styles of kickboxing have been first developed in Japan. However, similar influences were taking place in the United States as well and martial artists from toured both Japan and US, developing a common kickboxing standard.
As a specific form of martial art, kickboxing was inspired from Muay Thai, a combat sport originated in Thailand. Osamu Noguchi, a Japanese boxing promoter, developed it as a competitive style to oppose Muay Thai. He wanted to present to the Japanese people the fighting style that he had discovered in Thailand and in 1966 he took three Muay Thai fighters to compete against Japanese karate fighters. The Japanese won by 2-1. Noguchi and Kenji Kurosaki studied the combat style thoroughly and developed a combined martial art called kickboxing. At first, throwing and butting were allowed in order to distinguish it from the Muay Thai style. However, they were later eliminated.

A few years later, the Kickboxing Association, the first kickboxing organization, was founded in Japan. Kickboxing was broadcast on TV and became very popular in Japan. Back then, Tadashi Sawamura was an extremely popular kickboxer. After he retired, kickboxing started to lose its popularity and stopped being broadcast on TV. He hadn't been on TV until 1993, when K-1 was founded. In 1993, Kazuyoshi Ishii, who was the founder of Seidokan karate, produced K-1 under kickboxing rules (no elbow or neck wrestling). Since then, kickboxing started to regain its popularity and became famous again. Soon it's popularity started spreading through North America and Europe as well.

Straight left jab to the head is the most frequently used boxing technique. The chin and partially the mouth has to be covered with the left fist. The left hand is straightened and the left elbow rises according to the onward movement of the left fist. The chin must never be uncovered by the left fist.

Straight jab to a stomach involves keeping the body bent in a waist and knees, take a step with the front foot and when the target is contacted, the extended arm has to be parallel to the floor. This jab can coerce the opponent to lower the hands and open the head for further attack.

Right uppercut is done by standing in a classic boxing stance by holding the back knee bent. The right shoulder is lowered to turn the right side of the trunk to a semi-crouch position. The body weight is thus transferred to the left leg. The fist must be held sufficiently upwards near the chin to cover the head. The hips have to be turned forward, pushing the ball of the back foot and punching the right fist upwards towards the target. The right arm stays close to the body and turns up in a semicircle.

There are four types called as the jab, cross, hook and uppercut. If the boxer is right-handed, the left hand is the lead hand and the right hand is the rear hand. The positions are reversed for a left-handed boxer.

Jab is a quick, straight punch done with the lead hand from the guard position. There is a small, clockwise rotation of the torso and hips. The fist rotates 90 degrees and becomes horizontal after impact. When the punch reaches full extension, the lead shoulder is brought upwards to guard the chin. The rear hand is placed nearby the face to protect the jaw. This is the most vital punch for a boxer as it has a good amount of cover and leaves minimum space for a counterpunch from the opponent.

Cross is a powerful, straight punch done with the rear hand. Starting from the guard position, the rear hand is thrown from the chin. It crosses the body and travels towards the target in a straight line. The rear shoulder is moved forward. It's finishing position is just outside the chin. Simultaneously, the lead hand is retracted and placed across the face to protect the inside of the chin. The torso and hips are rotated counter-clockwise as the cross is executed.

Hook is a semi-circular punch done with the lead hand to the side of the opponent's head. Starting from the guard's position, the torso and hips and rotated clockwise. The fist is propelled through a tight, clockwise arc across the front of the body and connects with the target. Simultaneously, the lead foot pivots clockwise and the left heel turns outwards.

Uppercut is a vertical, rising punch done with the rear hand. Starting from the guard's position, the torso shifts slightly to the right and the rear hand drops below the level of the opponent's chest. There must be a slight bend in the knees. Further, the rear hand is thrust upwards in a rising arc towards the opponent's chin or torso. Simultaneously, the knees push upwards fast and the torso and hips rotate anti-clockwise. The rear heel turns outward and imitates the body movement of the cross.

To have a fully upright stance, the boxer stands with the legs shoulder-width apart. The rear foot is half-step behind the lead foot. Right-handed or orthodox boxers have the left foot and fist ahead. Both the feet are pointed just inward. The right heel is lifted from the ground. The lead fist is placed vertically nearly six inches in front of the face at eye level. The rear fist is placed beside the chin. The elbow must be held against the ribcage to protect the body. The chin must be tucked in the chest to avoid punches to the jaw that cause knock-outs. Left-handed or southpaw fighters adopt a mirror image of the orthodox stance. Sometimes the cheeks or foreheads are tapped with the fists to remember to keep the hands upwards.

NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, and it is the most watched, most widely followed, and most dearly loved auto racing series in the USA. Thousands of people flock to watch NASCAR races, and millions more watch from their homes, as the best drivers in the country go head to head in a blistering paced racing season that really sets your pulse racing. NASCAR sanctions and organizes a number of auto racing competitions across the country, and the economical value of this professional sport along with its popularity is unmatched. The history of NASCAR in itself is so unique and one of a kind, that simply hearing about it has the ability to get a sentimental flutter in the coldest hearts. Read about Dale Earnhardt, a famous NASCAR driver.
NASCAR is a family operated business that began its operation in 1948, and was founded by Bill France Sr, who was a hardcore racing enthusiast. The headquarters of NASCAR is located in Daytona Beach, Florida and the story behind its inception is a rather strange one. Starting from the early 1920's Daytona Beach became the most coveted area across the world to set world land speed records owing to its long picturesque roads and drives. Building up slowly, the area came to be known as the most likely place for fast cars as more and more people flocked there to participate in small time races or to view the cars on show there. The course that was most widely used there was a 4.1 mile long course that combined the thrill of long speedy stretches with sharp bending curves, along with a great scenic view of the ocean. Pretty soon the racing circuit in the region became more and more popular, and started gaining degrees of officialdom. The prize money on offer also started rising, and soon enough it was a hundred thousand dollar business, that held immense potential for profits. Read more about the history of Daytona Beach.

Stock car racing can also be traced back to the Prohibition period in the late 1920's. Illegal smugglers of moonshine and bootleg whiskey used to transport their goods in cars that were modified to evade the police. The love for fast cars was an integral part of the history of NASCAR, as these smugglers soon started organizing races to see whose car was the fastest. The confluence of this factor with the popularity of the Daytona Beach course contributed to the birth of NASCAR, and it has slowly evolved into a nationwide multi million dollar industry today.

These are heady days for cricket. England's triumph in the Ashes was overseen by increasingly high-end celebrity cognoscenti, with both Lily Allen and Russell Crowe putting in appearances at the BBC's Test Match Special commentary box. Plus, this week Sam Mendes announced that he will be adapting Joseph O'Neill's novel Netherland, a story about cricketing expats in New York, into a major film. A century after its first great golden age, the most sedentary, self-deprecating and immovably weather-bound of summer sports is about to go Hollywood. But does cricket really have a big-screen future? And if so, what kind of scripts can we expect to see punted about in the next few months?

When it comes to competitive play in any youth sport, everyone wants to be sure that the competition is playing by the rules. This is especially true when it comes to the eligibility of a player on another team whether it’s the player’s size, age, or jurisdiction. This is where photo ID cards come in as an excellent way to assist in regulating these factors.

Using photo identification cards and an online tracking system for players and coaches allows all of the documentation required for a player to only be checked once. Presently many organizations manage their paperwork for each player several times a year to verify eligibility. And most players participate in a sport for several years during their childhood. Anytime a player advances in a championship event, as well as invitational events, people want to be sure the other coach is playing by the rules so paperwork has to be verified at each event. And then the question still remains, did the coach have documentation for one player and bring another?

By implementing a registration solution, an organization can eliminate most of the paperwork review when it comes to eligibility. A good registration system tracks the player from the day they first enter the program until the day the participant graduates from the organization. Upon the participant’s initial registration, the paperwork can be provided and recorded and then tracked by the system from that point forward. But couldn’t a coach bring the wrong documentation to the first registration? Of course he can, but someone will catch the player sooner or later and then the system can be corrected. Our company has produced millions of ID cards and it’s a rare case that someone has provided the wrong documentation intentionally. Face it; the manager is the one being tracked on the system at the time of registration!

Are you the kind of person who goes bowling at every opportunity you get? My guess is you've had a lot of bowling games to play; you've been there, done that. My guess is also that the monotony of the game is beginning to set in, and you probably find that the game is just not challenging enough anymore. As they say, variety is the spice of life. Even if it is a game, playing it on a regular basis without anything new to look forward to, can get boring, and also have you lose interest in it. So try these variations in your regular bowling game, and have a new set of fun bowling games to play.
The normal bowling technique is passé. Here is a template that has different moves, which can be introduced to make a difficult game more challenging.
Bowl with the hand other than the one you normally use. If you are left-handed use your right hand to bowl and vice-versa.
Stand with your back towards the bowling alley and bowl backwards.
Instead of the usual sprinting and bowling, try hopping and bowling.
Sit in a cross-legged position, or squat on the floor and bowl.
Create a human bowling alley by having your team mates stand one behind the other with their legs apart. Bowl through their legs.
Have a list of things that have to be achieved by every team that is playing, each of which can be struck off once achieved. For instance:
A team has to hit only two, or five, or eight bowling pins.
A team may have to hit only the foremost bowling pin.
A team has to clear a split.
A team has to knock over only an odd or even number of pins. A team has to strike at least once.
To top it all, a team also must have at least one gutter.

Chinese style martial artists in the United States have long tried to make sense out of the many pieces of contradictory information circulated regarding the origins and purposes of their arts. How can one reconcile the inherent contradiction of supposedly educated, cultured and peaceful men (i.e. Buddhist monks, Taoist hermits and Confucian scholars) practicing and perfecting techniques designed to maim and kill? What exactly is the relationship between spiritual enlightenment, ethical training, physical fitness and no holds barred street fighting? Why do some other well-known traditions, such as the open challenge or dueling, seem so starkly out of place?

As Chinese martial arts become increasingly popular in the United States and there is a movement toward the creation of an international structure, instructors and students alike seek to find their proper identity and resolve these contradictions. It is essential to understand the past before we begin to plan for our future. Now is the time to develop a correct history for Chinese martial arts. We must confront the sources of these contradictions.

The simple fact is that, despite the claims of many of today's instructors, martial arts were not primarily the pursuit of Buddhist monks, Taoist hermits or Confucian scholars. In ancient China, martial arts were primarily practiced and developed by the military, members of brotherhoods and secret societies, and those involved in marginally accepted professions such armed escorts and body guards. As such, martial arts were in fact the product of those classes which most Chinese considered undesirable. This affected both the development of martial arts and the general society's attitudes toward them.

It must be remembered that imperial China was governed by traditional Confucian ideology. Within this context, education was the key to success in China's complex bureaucracy, and physical pursuits were viewed as morally inferior. Under these conditions, significant portions of the population, particularly the illiterate commoner, were marginalized or simply ignored. Thus, those who were neither privileged nor protected by society developed martial arts as the only defense against an often cruel and savage world. For these men, martial arts were neither a sport nor a hobby, but rather a matter of life or death.

Sports can increase physical fitness, exercise the will, it may also lead to more pains. According to Reuters January 29, which reported that the latest issue of "American Journal of Sports Medicine," pointed that adolescent who participate in competitive sports for many years will increase risk of lumbago pain .

University of Tsukuba, Japan, the experts completed a new study involving 4667 18-year-old freshman. The researchers devided these first-year students into three groups, students in primary schools and secondary schools having participated in competitive sports are classified as the most active group, those participating in sports competitions 1-2 times is more active groups, the other students inactive group.

It was found that in the most active group, 10% have ever asked for sick leave bacause of the backache pain, and the other two groups were 6% and 4%. Of the most active group of students, the occurrence of backache pain accompanied by leg pain or numbness accounted for 15%, the other two groups of 8.5% and 4%. The study also found in the investigation of the eight common sports, the volleyball players back pain is the most serious, the incidence rate is as high as 80% followed by football, the incidence rate was 60%. Overall, those from primary school began to participate in sports competition test the incidence of low back pain was 72%. College students participating in the competition occurred at least once low back pain, and those less to participate in the competition, as well as those who had never participated in sports competitions their incidence of low back pain was 62%. In addition, the students, a long time to participate in athletics competition, their low back pain will have been further accentuated. However, for young people with low back pain whether the pain is related to sports training techniques or some special project-specific gestures or actions, which still need for further studies to confirm.

The researchers said the findings did not mean that the child was better not do sports. In controlling weight and maintaining health, regular exercise is still playing an important role.

Drastic and more intense campaign are tests to the waist muscles and lumbar vertebral. Before participating in these sports, we must fully stretch, open limb, try to make the muscles of the body are "ready" than can we avoid damage.

Before I tell you more about this video course, I want to make another observation that is closely related to the time you have available to practice, and that is around your short game skills.

If you were to analyze where most of your strokes are taken during a round, you will find that they occur around the greens.

Your ability to execute a good short game requires a lot of time to practice and that is because this area of your game has so many variations and requires so many skills/techniques to perfect.

So, recognizing the fact that the vast majority of golfers have little time to practice their short game, the way to reduce these wasted strokes is to create a playing strategy that reduces the need for these skills...

I will introduce you to a powerful playing strategy using a "single skill set", perfected by all top level players, that will reduce the wasted short game strokes around the green and give you more par opportunities than you have ever had before....

If you are struggling to crack this score, which is a major achievement in every golfers career, I will show you how to "think outside the box" on the golf course to achieve your goal in no time at all...

The success of your game is determined as much by how you "think" on a golf course as it is on how well you swing a golf club.

Unfortunately, many golfers spend all their time trying to perfect their swing technique and very little time on "thinking" about what it is they are trying to accomplish on the course.

This is not a criticism, it is simply an observation...

Most of the material and instruction that golfers receive is all related to improving swing technique....very little is written about golf strategy. So it is no wonder they do not actively develop this side of their game.

Yet, the techniques I will show you in this course will immediately reduce your scores by 3-5 strokes a round or more if you are shooting in the 90's. If you are shooting in the 100's you will reduce your scores by 4-6 strokes a round....and this is without making any significant swing changes.

Golf is a game of numbers and once I show you the figures you need to achieve to break 90, you will be amazed at how simple the task at hand is...

The problem that most high handicap golfers have is that they step onto the golf course with a "fixed mindset" on how they are expected to play their round...and that expectation places enormous "mental pressure" on their swing which ultimately shows up as inconsistency in their swing.

Inconsistency is what destroys score cards....not the inability to hit 230 yard drives.

I am going to show you how to change that mind set and develop a plan of play that "matches your skills" to the task at hand to optimize your scoring opportunities ....

Ineffective Practice Technique

The other problem that almost all golfers face that limits their ability to lower their score, is not having the time to practice.

"Sure I could break 90 if I was able to practice and play more often"...

If you stop and think about all the different skills and shots you need to develop from tee to green and then try and relate that back to the time you have to put into your game to perfect those skills you will be amazed....it's no wonder pros spend 8-10hrs a day perfecting their games.

The reality is that you simply do not have that time to put into your game....you may be lucky at being able to hit a bucket of ball once a week, never mind spend hours a day practicing!

Yet, let me make another observation on how many golfers practice, which again I do not mean to sound critical...

Most golfers "waste" their limited practice time on ineffective practice technique and on the wrong skill sets....take a moment to watch people practicing the next time you go to the range to see what I am taking about.

I guarantee you will observe the following scenario with at least 50% of the people hitting balls on the range...

They take a bucket of balls, spend the first 15 balls on a 7 iron and then spend the remainder of the bucket on a 3 wood or driver trying to bash balls beyond the 200 yard marker....this may make them feel good, but it has very little impact on improving their swing or their scoring ability.

Whether they realize this or not, the primary motivation that drives golfers to spend most of their practice time on the range with the woods is a need for "distance"....because that is what they have been lead to believe is the solution to lower scoring..

Before you can begin to make improvements to your score and benefit from your practice sessions, you need to make a mental shift away from this powerful urge towards one of "swing consistency"...and I will show you how you can do that.

The Tavistock Cup is a two-day team tournament between two “rival” country clubs on Florida’s East coast: Lake Nona, home to pros like Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia and Retieif Goosen, and Isleworth, the famous residence of Mark O’Meara, Stuart Appleby and Tiger Woods, among others. These professional golfers and more compete in what amounts to an annual star-studded cross-town match-up. The tournament’s purse is funded by the Tavistock Group, an investment firm that owns both clubs and has held the event at alternating home courses since 2004.
From March 22 – 23, defending champion Lake Nona will tee it up against home team Isleworth, whose first tee lies just a five-iron away from the worst drive of Tiger Woods’ career (if you’ve been under a rock for the past two and a half months, an explanation can be found here). This year’s event will broadcast live on The Golf Channel and on their international affiliates, as it has in past years.

It's not exactly clear when the first game of baseball was played. Some historians believe baseball originated from rounders - a 18th century British game, in which players hit a ball using a paddle. Cooperstown, New York, which is home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, is sometimes credited with being the site of the first baseball game in 1839, when players hit a ball using a four-inch bat and ran around four bases in a diamond formation. However, in 1845, the New York Knickerbockers first developed the 20 rules, including the use of three outs and the distance between bases, which would become the basis for the modern game of baseball we all know now

Cycling is once again back in fashion with many people thinking of taking the plunge and purchasing a bike either for work or leisure. Some, however, recognising the cardio-vascular value of cycling are keen to take this a stage further and incorporate cycling into their regular fitness regime. For these fitness enthusiasts one of the quality road bikes we stock at Formby Cycles should be just the ticket.

Regular cycling is an excellent way of keeping fit. Cycling works the body’s muscles and puts the heart and lungs through their paces. Yet, like swimming, it is a low impact sport, reducing the dangers of long term physical damage to the body sometimes associated with high impact sports such as jogging.

Road bikes are lightweight and designed to carry the rider quickly over man-made surfaces. Since the terrain they navigate is relatively smooth road bikes do not usually require the addition of suspension. This in turn means that road bikes are comparatively lighter when compared with some other bikes, such as mountain bikes, and this has the advantage of further increasing the speed at which road bikes can travel.

Bruno Senna, nephew of former world champion Ayrton Senna, won his first major international event when he took victory in the GP2 race at Barcelona.

Senna won by five seconds from Timo Glock, the German driver having lost the lead due to a tactical error when his team failed to make a mandatory pit stop at the most opportune moment during a safety-car period. Glock had led from pole, with Senna starting from sixth position and making the most of first-lap mayhem.

Senna, 23, is the son of Vivane, sister of the Formula 1 driver killed during the San Marino Grand Prix on 1 May 1994. Last year's GP2 championship, the F1 support series for up and coming drivers, was won by Lewis Hamilton. Senna has previously competed in the British F3 championship and won the F3 support race for the Australian Grand Prix in March.

Who invented baseball is one thing all baseball enthusiasts should know as a part of general knowledge. Yes, baseball it is, the national game of USA. Baseball has evolved from yesteryear's bat and ball games. French manuscripts have description of clerics playing a game something similar to baseball. Apparently, the earliest reference of baseball was done in 1774, in a British publication.
Actually speaking, as mentioned earlier, baseball evolved from bat and ball games played in the olden days. Thus, it might not have been invented as such. But yes, we can say that baseball, as it is played now, was put forth for the first time by Alexander Joy Cartwright. In the year 1845, this man from New York invented or rather came up with the idea of modern baseball field. He, along with the members of New York Knickerboxer Baseball Club, came up with the rules and regulations of contemporary baseball. Cartwright is duly credited with formalizing the modern baseball rules. Therefore the answer to who invented baseball in America is Alexander Cartwright. In fact, the first ever recorded game of baseball was in 1846, where unfortunately for Cartwright, New York Knickerboxers were defeated by New York Baseball club. It was played in New Jersey.
