The Tavistock Cup is a two-day team tournament between two “rival” country clubs on Florida’s East coast: Lake Nona, home to pros like Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia and Retieif Goosen, and Isleworth, the famous residence of Mark O’Meara, Stuart Appleby and Tiger Woods, among others. These professional golfers and more compete in what amounts to an annual star-studded cross-town match-up. The tournament’s purse is funded by the Tavistock Group, an investment firm that owns both clubs and has held the event at alternating home courses since 2004.
From March 22 – 23, defending champion Lake Nona will tee it up against home team Isleworth, whose first tee lies just a five-iron away from the worst drive of Tiger Woods’ career (if you’ve been under a rock for the past two and a half months, an explanation can be found here). This year’s event will broadcast live on The Golf Channel and on their international affiliates, as it has in past years.
